Founded in 2015, Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO is an initiative that presents concerts and masterclasses annually in Lisbon, and has been recognized by the national and international press as one of the best festivals and academies in the world.
With performative and educational axes, Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO has presented concerts and masterclasses in different venues in Lisbon – such as Centro Cultural de Belém, Teatro Thalia, Picadeiro Real de Belém, National Museum of Coches, National Conservatory, Palácio Fronteira, etc -, with the participation of musicians and professors from some of the most prestigious international institutions and soloists of the world’s best orchestras, such as the Conservatories, Universities and Higher Schools of Music of Berlin, Paris, Boston, London, Brussels, Oslo, Cologne, Geneva, Lausanne, Madrid, Moscow, etc, and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Paris Orchestra, etc.
Over the years, more than 1000 musicians were selected to participate in the masterclasses of the Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO, about half of whom are Portuguese and the other half from more than 40 countries on 5 continents, such as Germany, USA , Japan, Russia, Brazil, Canada, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Iran, Australia, Colombia, Turkey, Sweden, South Korea, Italy, Norway, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Belgium, Serbia, Slovenia, Hungary, Venezuela , Austria, South Africa, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Ukraine, Israel, Croatia, Uzbekistan, Guinea, Bolivia, China, Romania, Poland, Denmark and New Zealand, among others.
Since its foundation, VERÃO CLÁSSICO Prizes have been awarded to the best participating musicians. These prizes, in the form of concerts included in musical seasons held in Portugal, have an important role of motivation and recognition of talent and the participation by the young musicians during Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO. Some of the young musicians awarded in the previous editions already had the opportunity to present themselves as soloists with Portuguese orchestras – Orquestra do Norte, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras and Orquestra Clássica do Sul – and in international music festivals.
Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO, thus, promotes education and public presentation of young talents, encouraging and supporting them to build their careers, and at the same time, encouraging cultural exchange among participants of different nationalities. To Portuguese students it offers, in their own country, a platform for development of their artistic level and the exceptional possibility of learning with the most prestigious international teachers, worldwide references of their instruments.
